Communication is Key for Small Business Owners

Simple Communication Tips for Your Small Business

Many people say that communication is more of an art than it is a science. Although it may seem simple to exchange information with business partners or employees, communication is more about verbalizing our ideas while also knowing how to listen, influence, encourage, and have empathy. For some, these aspects of communication are not an automatic thing and knowing how to communicate effectively and clearly with your team is an important part of running a small business.

Use the “Magic” Words

As children we were taught to be respectful when we speak to others. Our parents always reminded us to say “please,” “thank you,” and “you’re welcome.” Just because we are older now and running a business does not mean that these words lose their power. Although we may think saying “thank you” to someone for doing their job is a trivial detail, it is important to remember that being respectful earns you respect and being polite with colleagues and employees will have a profound effect.

Listening is Important

When we think of communication, we often think of how we relay information to others and how they interpret that information. However, another important part of being an effective communicator is listening. It is important to truly take into consideration what other people have to say during an exchange of information. Asking for and listening to the opinions and ideas of others is a great way to see if you are right, they are right, or if both of you are wrong and new ideas need to be discussed.

Stay Positive

Communication can be both a positive or negative experience, but how the conversation ends is your choice. Communication includes both how we speak and what our body language is – even if you are speaking positive things, your body language can be a dead giveaway to how you are truly feeling. By staying positive in your mind, you are able to portray the same feelings with where you place your hands, your arms and what your facial expressions convey. Be conscious of what you say as well as how you say it and what your body language is communicating to the other person in the conversation.

Do Not Be Condescending

No one likes to be “talked down to,” especially when they are trying to communicate their ideas to someone else. Business owners who are arrogant or act superior to others are usually not favored by their employees, colleagues, or customers and will more than likely not be taken seriously. When a boss in condescending, everything will be repelled from them – co-workers, employees, customers, and possibly their business. Make sure to be conscious of how you speak to others and remain positive.

Communication can be simple or hard, effective or ineffective – the choice is up to you. Whether you are speaking with business partners, employees, or customers, it is important to remember these points in order to make sure the idea exchange is a positive and helpful one. Being respectful, listening well, staying positive in the conversation and not “talking down” to those around you is the most effective way to become a great communicator, which is a key aspect to running a healthy, happy business.

Leaders Are Everywhere…Are You One?

Whether you believe that people are born leaders or develop the essential skills over time, there is no denying that leaders are everywhere. Sometimes, they are found in the most unlikely places, in people who would not be considered influential individuals. As one example, many children lead their communities in the war against crime, poverty, and substandard education. Any of us can become a leader.

People do not need to have formal leadership titles to be leaders. However, all people of influence should have leadership skills. Unfortunately, we have witnessed many situations where this is not true. How an individual chooses to lead in his or her current position is the determining factor. Someone who exhibits leadership skills is considered a great employee/student/etc. True leaders have a mindset of ownership even if they are not business owners. They view the family, team, class, or organization that they are part of as theirs.

This mindset requires advocating for the unit. Each person on the team performs a different role but the group has common goals. Leaders set the tone by becoming their own leads rather than following the lead of others. They change the mindset of their organizations by creating teams that work hard and advocate learning and ethical behavior. No one can control the actions of others but everyone can control his or her own actions. By exemplifying the desired behaviors, leaders influence others to follow.

Anyone who is employed should be thankful to have a job because there are millions of people who do not. Being ungrateful squanders an opportunity to use the current position as a stepping stone to greater things. Advocating for the team and the organization pays off over the short and long-terms. Team success becomes the main goal but it filters through to the individuals involved.

How do you develop the ownership mindset so important for a leader? Incorporate the advice of others who have been there and done that. Attend seminars, get a mentor, or read a Dani Johnson script book. Dani is one person who knows how to influence others and she shares her secrets in her Conditioning for Success and Magnetic Influence training programs. Her techniques are proven to work…they helped her generate millions of dollars and are doing the same for thousands of other people.

Conditioning for Success helps us to rid ourselves of limiting beliefs and the memories of past failures. It teaches us to face challenges head-on and shows us how to take risks without fear. Confident that we will succeed, we create the life we envision. Others notice this and want to learn more. We can serve as role models for them, guiding them down the same path.

Magnetic Influence teaches us how to develop the interpersonal skills necessary to become leaders. Whether you have hit a career plateau or have achieved professional goals but personal ones are suffering, this program has something to offer. By strengthening relationships, you can motivate teammates, contributing to group and individual success. This is the stuff leadership is made of!

Gain Confidence and Success May Follow

work from home, small business
Starting your own small business can be quite a rush. Unfortunately, for many business owners, that rush turns into doubt and they begin to worry if they made a mistake by venturing out on their own. It is very easy to question your decision making at this point, which of course can lead to many more problems. By gaining confidence instead of doubt, you can help ensure that your business remains successful for many years to come.

One of the biggest challenges for a new business owner is the ability to close the deal. In addition, they often find it hard to even approach customers, let alone making a sale. Know that you are not alone with this challenging situation. In fact, I too experienced this problem but found a solution after reading through the Dani Johnson Script Book.

For those of you that follow me, you know how much I draw from the experiences of Dani Johnson. Here was a woman that was literally living out of her car, then somehow figured out a way to make her own business work, and then created an empire. Today, she is a millionaire many times over. Luckily, for me, and you for that matter, she has shared many of her learning tools to help others experience the same success she has seen over the years.

There is no shame in admitting that you need help. The shame is in letting your family down by allowing your business to fail instead of seeking out the tools and help needed to approach customers and learn how to better close deals. Simply put, you will be amazed at how virtually every scenario you will face is already laid out in this book. Furthermore, you will be amazed at how her scripts help you close deals you never dreamed you could make.

One of the keys to success in any business is networking. Whether you are attending events or reaching out on social media, networking is necessary in order to grow your potential client base. In addition to learning how to close sales, her book also gives you the basic tools you will need in order to get over your fears and become more confident during networking events.

If you were having little to no success before, what do you have to lose? If you were seeing moderate success already, one can only imagine the increases in sales you will see once you master these tools. If you want to learn more about how I used these tools, drop me a note and I will be more than happy to discuss it with you. I can also explain some of the opportunities I have used to create my financial freedom. I look forward to hearing from you but more importantly, I look forward to your success!

Learn How to Close a Sale Every Time

We all have dreams of owning a big home or being able to retire when we can still enjoy it. However, life often gets in the way and we end up grinding out our days at a job where we do nothing more than punch a clock. Today, more than ever before, there are numerous opportunities available for work from home positions that can literally create a six-figure income. However, many of these opportunities require some sales savvy, something many of us do not naturally possess.

It takes a bit of a thick skin to try to go it alone into an opportunity where you need to cold call or approach business owners or consumers face to face. Most sales people here "No" far more often than they here "Yes," but they keep coming back for more. Even the best sales people are rejected far more often than they succeed, which is why many people looking for work from home positions immediately reject anything to do with direct sales.

I am here to tell you that anyone, and I mean anyone, can become a successful salesperson with the right tool. In my case, the Dani Johnson Script Book made the difference. For those of you that know my background, you know I was in debt up to my neck and struggling to put food on the table. The opportunity I chose to pursue required me to be able to close sales and this book is what I used, along with Dani Johnson seminars, to learn how to close the deal.

The reason the book is so successful is that it looks at virtually every scenario you may face and has an answer to the consumer's question. This book helps you learn how to get the consumer to trust you and listen to what you have to say instead of hanging up the phone or closing the door. In fact, even no's will end up serving as referrals if you do what the book says to do.

In addition to these very valuable scripts, you will be given additional tools to help control and grow your business. Honestly, this is probably the most valuable instructional manual for ANY work from home business owner. In fact, even if you are in sales and working for someone else, you can benefit from the information in this book. Why settle for being a middling salesman when you can lead your company every month or year? Rack up those bonuses and then use all that extra income to start your very own business!

If you do not believe what you are reading, simply give me a call I can tell you personally how this book turned my life around. Today, I am financially secure, donate to charity, and travel the world all because this book enabled me to be a successful work from home entrepreneur. I would love to see you have that same success and am awaiting your phone call!

Focusing On Gain, Not Loss Can Turn Your Life Around

By now, you should have heard of Dani Johnson, the woman who managed to turn her life around by selling a weight loss product and who is now a business, financial, and relationship consultant to thousands of people across the world. Some of you may have purchased one of her training programs, hoping that a Dani Johnson script book would open the door to unimaginable success. If that success has not come, a single mistake may be to blame.

According to Dani, this mistake costs people clients, money, business partners, and relationships. It can cause people to lose everything they have worked to achieve. This mistake is actually a simple one and may be made unconsciously. What is it? Being afraid of losing something. Whether we fear losing our job, business, money, or relationships, we are focusing on the wrong thing. We direct our energy to avoid losing what we have rather than channeling it into getting something even more valuable.

How does Dani know about this mistake and its effects? She made it early in her career and experienced the detrimental consequences. To prevent the rest of us from going through this pain and having to claw our way back to the top as she did, Dani suggests that we concentrate on three things to keep ourselves moving in the correct direction.

Focus is the first thing we must master because we get more of whatever we focus on in life. This is because we get good at the things that we focus on, increasing the likelihood of success. If we spend time focusing on money that we fear we will not make or customers or a job that we are afraid to lose, we are neglecting the money that we are making, the customers we have, and the job at which we should be performing our best.

It is not possible to focus on the negative and the positive at the same time. Therefore, we must stop focusing on what is wrong or what we could be doing better and begin focusing on what is going right and on the results we are creating. Focus on that one prospect who said yes not the handful of others who said no. Celebrate successes and use them as motivation to achieve even more.

When we concentrate on what we are doing, it is easy to become mired in data, processes, and the day-to-day obligations. This prevents us from concentrating on creating results. Being organized, working day and night, and setting hundreds of appointments mean nothing if we are not producing concrete results.

The last thing Dani recommends is to have faith. We must believe in what we are doing, the money we are investing in our careers, the time we are spending with clients, and the effort we are putting into relationships. We need to trust that these will produce results. When we do this, we begin carrying ourselves in a manner that illustrates our beliefs. This is what creates success.
